LB: Where do you practice? What do you drink at practice? What do you do at practice when you’re not practicing?
TGBD: Beast of Baden Studios, South San Francisco. Coffee, oolong tea, whisky, tequila, vodka, beer. Talk about how we hate practicing.

LB: What's the hardest thing about being a band in 2009?
TGBD: Our heads.

LB: What's the best thing about being a band in San Francisco??
TGBD: It impresses foreigners.

TGBD: New album coming out, Deep South tour in September, and 2010 will be a very good year indeed.

The Devil's Own - Jan 28th @ Hotel Utah

LittleBook: Why did you start a band??
The Devil's Own: The band came about because some band needed to play all of these goddamn songs I keep writing and it's an excellent scheme to get a few free beers from the local clubs.

LB: How did you find each other??
TDO: At this point, we've all known each other for a long time. I snaked Gentleman Smith from Jeffrey Luck Lucas' band, sort of. And I hand-picked the others based on exactly what I want and who I want in this band.

LB:What's your most memorable moment as a band??
TDO: Playing the Heavy Metal Shop in Salt Lake City for its 21st anniversary with Michael Dean Damron and Thee Loyal Bastards and Kleveland. Kevin Kirk fucking rules!

LB:Favorite pre / post show; food, indulgence or ritual??
TDO: We're all keen on getting revved up on copious amounts of alcohol before and after our shows. I, Piss, am very partial to being super-stoned just before playing and then it depends on what's being offered.

LB:What do you drink at practice??
TDO:Lots of beer and lots of beer.

LB:What’s the hardest thing about being a Bay Area Band??
TDO:There are so fucking many Bay Area bands that the market is over-saturated. Other than that, it's about as easy as being a band from anywhere else.

LB:What do you want people to know about your band, what are you doing next??
TDO: We're currently breaking in a new bassist. As soon as he's cool, we'll begin recording a new full-length, playing out more and touring regionally. As for what we want people to know, a quote from the rock documentary, Bad News: "The lyrics! You gotta listen to the lyrics!"

LB:What's up with your CD where can I get it, where did you record it??
TDO: We recorded our first CD up in Portland, Oregon with former I Can Lick Any Sonofabitch guitarist, Handsome Jon Burbank at his It's Cold, It Stinks and I Don't Like the Way It Sounds studio. It's available through us at our shows and through CDBaby. com

LB:Favorite San Francisco Band or a memorable show??
TDO: By far, the most memorable show is when we played with I Can Lick Any Sonofabitch In the House in Las Vegas over Viva Las Vegas weekend. Bridget the Midget, Aerosmith's accountant, eye-crimping amounts of alcohol, a marriage proposal and a line that went out the door and around the corner until 4am.

LB:Favorite venue to Play??
TDO: Bottomofthehilltheeparksidehotelutah.

LB:Do any of the members ever take their shirts off at a show or at practice??
TDO: Not yet, but we're working on it.

LB:Who's the smelliest member after a sweaty gig??
TDO: Mark (the lead guitarist) probably takes the sweat-cake on this. Maybe because he's the only one in the band who hasn't had his sweat glands surgically removed yet.

LB: Where do you think live music is heading??
TDO: Hopefully in front of a livelier crowd, for starters.

C: Lotsa RedBull, maybe a Spliff or 2 for some, lotsa cigarettes for others...

LB: What do you drink at practice??
C: Caffeinated beverages. Lots and lots of caffeinated beverages.

LB: What’s the hardest thing about being a Bay Area Band??
C: Getting people to show up to shows...there are alot of bands out there.

LB: What do you want people to know about your band, what are you doing next??
C: That we like scantily clad women to show up and shake it at our shows....and we are trying to write more tunes and self-record a demo

C: Still workin on it...till then check MySpace. We put fresh tracks up every other practice if we get good recordings.
