Chiara c photography

LittleBook: Why did you become a photographer??
Chiara:
From an early age, I have always been drawn to various mediums of art... though, it wasn't until age 12 that I finally found my calling through the lens of a camera.

LB: Why did you start taking pictures of bands??
C:
Well, I take a lot of pictures in general... and I go to a lot of shows... it wasn't too long until I put two and two together.

LB: How do you pick a subject / band to take pictures of?
C:
Generally there's an unspoken quality that gravitates me towards a subject. When it comes to shooting objects, usually it's the lighting; for a band, it's definitely the energy that they put into their music and performance.

LB: Do you prefer shooting live shows or bands in the studio setting??
C:
Most definitely, live. I LOVE being able to capture an artist in their truest moment... even if it's for only a split-second.

LB: What's your most memorable moment shooting bands??
C:
Too many shows come to mind... but within this past year, it would have to be the Me First and The Gimme Gimmes show at Thee Parkside. It was amazing - the place was packed, everyone was singing along and having a great time, and of course, The Gimmes put on a spectacular performance!

LB: What's hard about photographing a live show??
C:
I have to know what the band is going to do at least three seconds before they do....

LB: What other types of photography do you do??
C:
I've been exploring portraiture, but remain engaged in a vast array of photography.

LB: What's the hardest thing about being a photographer in the Bay Area??
C:
Getting your work's aesthetic to stand out among the rest - there's a lot of talent out here.

LB: What are you doing next??
C:
I'm always anticipating the unexpected... I'm a "fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants" kind of gal.

LB: How can bands get a hold of you to photograph them??
C:
I can be reached either on myspace: myspace.com/chiaracphotography or they can email me at: chiaracphotography@yahoo.com

LB: Favorite local Band or a memorable show??
C:
In all honesty, there are TOO MANY to list... there are so many talented musicians in the bay area, and a lot of talented musicians that pass through; it makes me feel fortunate to live in this area, but I find it extremely difficult to choose a "favorite."

LB: Favorite venue to take pictures of bands at??
C:
Any place with good lighting and that enables me to move around... I like getting those shots from a different perspective... and, of course, the ones that nobody else gets!

LB: How can bands get in contact with you??
C:
Once again, myspace: www. myspace. com/chiaracphotography or via email at: chiaracphotography@yahoo.com... that is, unless someone wants to help me build a website ;)
