Everything Must Go - Feb 7 @ THE BLANK Club - Feb 8 @ BOTTOM OF THE HILL

Jake Hout -Vox
Ed Ho -Drums
Brian Hood -Guitar
Noah Webber -Guitar
Jason Lucero -Bass

LittleBook: Why did you start a band??
Jake Hout: To keep out of trouble. If I can’t get attention in a constructive way I'll get it in a destructive way.

LB: How did you find each other??
Jake:
Me and Eddy grew up in Oakland and have been friends since we where kids. We're the only remaining founding members from back in 2K. The rest is a long story but basically we all met through the scene.

LB:What's your most memorable moment as a band??
Jake: Wow there have been a lot now 8+ years of moments... I guess for me it's hanging Bill Stevens (our old guitarist) out of a third story window over the club in Kortrijk Belgium. There was a town fair outside watching. We where outrageously inebriated and proceeded to food, furniture and fist fight for several hours before the gig. By the time we went on people had caught wind there's this fucking insane band from America at this place so it was packed and we didn’t make it through even one fucking song. It was all just fighting and dog piles and broken glass. Not even music at all really. It's apparently fucking legendary in that town now.

LB: One time I saw your lead singer light a bottle rocket off in his crotch, has he ever hurt himself, did the clubs ever get pissed?
Jake: Yes constantly. And yes, every time. I've got many scars and burns from performances, I broke my leg once, -(first gig of tour! -bummer.) The clubs really didn’t used to mind but after the Great White disaster (where they did stadium size pyro in basically an old barn and like 90 people died.) the clubs still didn’t care and we all made jokes about how I was gonna kill us all and stuff. Then about a year later when the law suit came through and the venue owed how ever many million dollars it was all of a sudden "How could you do such a thing?! How immoral!" -it was hilarious. And of coarse I did it anyway for a while till we where banned from too many places and couldn't get gigs. Now there are still some venue owners that allow it, special case for us. But they'll remain nameless cause it is illegal, and they wont want every band coming in doing fuckin' pyro.

LB:Favorite pre / post show; food, indulgence or ritual??
JakeBeer! duh. I like a shot of something right before too. Maybe a car bomb! I try not to do blow anymore before the gig cause it fucks my voice, but pills etc...

LB:What do you drink at practice??
Jake: Beer! (I'm just gonna answer everything with that). Also Gin. And Sake! Eddy's been bringing these big huge boxes of Sake. They’re like 3 gallons or something.

LB:What’s the hardest thing about being a Band in the Bay Area??
Jake: Punk being dead? Just kidding it's still punx kickin around, now there's a new generation coming in, from burnt ramen and hazmat etc., and not all towns can say that anymore so I really don’t want to complain.

LB: What do you want people to know about your band, what are you doing next??
Jake
: We're playing 2 gigs with Adolescents at the Blank in SJ then Bottom of the hill. We got a pretty new album out (about 6 months now) and have most of the next one written, and we're touring Europe in April!

LB: What's up with your CD where can I get it, where did you record it??
Jake:
Probably easiest to go to our myspace www.myspace. com/everythingmustgo and there's links for any format you want. Except cassette tape sadly. -Next album! We recorded it at New and Improved and (now defunked) Sonic Art studios in O-town. We tracked and mixed it ourselves.

LB: Favorite San Francisco Band or a memorable show??
Jake: God there's too many. I like uhhh NEUROSIS! High on Fire,. Also Strychnine, Fleshies, Grannies, Phantom Limbs, Annihilation Time, Teenage Harlots, That's the bands we started out with you know. Most of whom are Kaput -but we’ve managed to persevere some how.

LB: Favorite venue to Play??
Jake: The Schlactoff upstairs in Bremen! ohh but also the Wild at Heart Berlin! Bottom of the Mn' Fn' Hill! Its hard to say, I like almost anywhere with an audible mic.

LB: Do any of the members ever take their shirts off at a show or at practice??
Jake: uh well yeah we all do from time to time. But we're all guys so it's not very exciting. I know man chest can be fun but ask anyone bi. It's just not as exciting.

LB: Who's the smelliest member after a sweaty gig??
Jake:
They'd say me but that’s wrong! I smell delicious! I'm usually I'm the only one that smells like gunpowder in addition to sweat, blood, beer, sex, puke etc. so I’ll give 'em that.

LB: Where do you think live music is heading??
Jake
: heading? It's been the same since the hunter gather days. Before even. Exactly the same, no difference what so ever at all. It's just like the birds and frogs and everygoddamn thing it's just -Listen to me! I'm here! This is whole thing is fuckin SEXY!! On nature shows they call it "mating calls" right? But it's probably all really political, territorial, you know existential stuff that just happens to get the other critters riled up and leads inevitably to sex. Where can you head from there?!

LB: How do you feel about people downloading your songs for free, do you offer free downloads??
Jake:
uhhh I hope so? I know they can listen to it free on myspace can you download there? They should buy our record on vinyl cause it's got a beautiful picture and color vinyl either blue or red and clear splatter. It's worth it!

LB: How do you think your show opening for the ADOLESCENT at Bottom of the Hill will go?
Jake:
I think it'll sell out, And be fuckin punk rock sing-along awesome time! (And we're support slot by the way) But show up on time anyway cause the openers are Switchblade Riot and Anti Social, both of whom are fuckin great bands!!

LB: Alot of people have told me they've been recording with your guitaist Brian Hood, what's it like a recording engineer / producer in the band?
Jake:
it's great! He's got an amazing ear. And talents for the recording end. But it's hard for us too cause like we always want to record it ourselves and then we lose objectivity. You know? And tweak the fuck out and lose all perspective and almost kill each other! Which is, I suppose, how it's done.
