LittleBook: Why / How did you start a punk rock karaoke night??

Reby Rae: Punk Rock Karaoke began a long time ago in a land far away aka the old Annie's Cocktail Lounge that was across the street from 850 Bryant. Original hosts included Spike from Me First and the Gimme Gimmes and the Grand Poobah Terrorbull Ted. The place was tiny and it was the closest things to a band Annie could get to entertain the kids.

LB: What's your most memorable moment at a PRK night??

RR: Well, I did give birth to an ethnic Baby Jesus onstage at last years' Nightmare Before Xmas Karaoke....

LB: Favorite pre / post PRK night; food, indulgence or ritual ??

RR: Is Annie reading this? Perhaps hand rolled Hippy medication plus Spicy Eggplant at Osha Thai @ 230am if the Tamale Lady didn't come by.

LB: What do you drink at punk rock karaoke??

RR: Vodka Ginger. Not enough water.

LB: What’s the hardest thing about putting on PRK in San Francisco??

RR: The assholes who don't get that the "punk" is not so much the song choice but your performance. Don't sign up for Lionel Richie "Hello" unless you plan on singing it like Phil Anselmo.

LB: What do you want people to know about the PRK nights, what are you planning to do next??

RR: We are on the Mainstage Monday nights [free admission] and in the backroom on Fridays & Saturdays. You have to pay to get in on the weekend but then you get to catch the bands, too. We also can host your birthday party.

LB: What's your favorite song to sing @ PRK?

RR: Bandages by Hot Hot Heat

LB: what's your least favorite song to hear other people sing @ PRK??

RR: Total Eclipse of the Fuckin' Heart. I won't let people sing Bohemian Rhapsody anymore either.
