Danielle Contreras - Photographer

LittleBook: Why did you become a photographer??
Danielle Contreras: I wanted to wake up everyday and be happy with the career I'd chosen for myself even if I wasn't making loads of cash. and I didn't want to be in a cubicle anymore

LB: Why did you start taking pictures of bands??
DC:
I have always been into music and
it just seemed natural to put the two things I love together

LB: Do you perfer shooting live shows or bands in the studio setting / Portraits??
DC:
Well I enjoy live shows because I get to hear alot of new fresh music although it is not always the easiest way to photograph bands but definately the most fun.


LB: What's your most memorable moment shooting bands??
DC:
Too many to pick from, but probably when the crowd knows every word to every songthere is just this energy in the air, its awesome.

LB: What's h
ard about photographing a live show??
DC:
I would have to say shooting close up and up front with a flash. I try not to annoy the audience too much.

LB: What other types of photography do you do??
DC: I do some travel and event photography.

LB: What’s the hardest thing about being a photographer in the Bay Area??
DC:
It is very competitive, there is alot of great talent out there.

LB: What are you doing next??
DC:
Next you say-Photographing the next band that contacts me

DC:

LB: Favorite San Francisco Band or a memorable show??
DC:
I would have to say Midnight Bombers, their shows are always fun, exciting and never a bore.



LB: Favorite venue to take pictures of bands at??
DC: hmmm... I would have to say Annies Social Club on 5th & folsom, there is lots of space for all sorts of shots.
