LittleBook: Why did you start a band??
Live Evil: Live Evil is the band that I created in my head when I was 13 (I am now 33) when I decided to be a rockstar because I wanted to be cool and get girls. Between the ages of 13 to 17, I wrote over 120 songs for this band, of which, because of my laziness, I was the only member. Two years ago at a theatre show called Mortified, the band came to life with me and a guitarist. From that, we've grown into a full band doing only the songs I wrote back then.
LB: How did you find each other??
LE: I was introduced to Death Bone by a mutual friend. Death Bone started out as the guitarist then said he knew some guy who was a great musician and could play bass, so he brought in The Purge. They soon switched instruments. The Purge has known Porkchop since they were 3 or 4, so he brought him in.
LB: what's your most memorable moment as a band, ??
LE: Recording the album. We were always all in the studio together and the process made us tighter as a band. Also, for me, it was the culmination of a 17 year dream.
LB: favorite pre / post show; food, indulgence or ritual ??
LE: A shot of whiskey. Every time.
LB: What do you drink at practice??
LE: Beer. We're partial to Fat Tire.
LB: what’s the hardest thing about being a San Francisco Band??
LE: I'm not sure if this is San Francisco specific but I think the limitations on places to play. For every band just starting out the higher end clubs (Independent, Great American, etc.) are out of reach and there really aren't that many places left. Ten or so? Maybe.
LB: what do you want people to know about your band, what are you doing next??
LE: We'll be featured in the upcoming HBO documentary on Mortified and Mike Maguire of the Director's Bureau
(www.thedirectorsbureau.com) has optioned my life story and is writing a movie about me and the band.
LB: what's up with your CD where can I get it, where did you record it??
LE: The CD was recorded at Adeline Studios in Oakland. It's available on our myspace, CDBaby and Digstation.
LB: Favorite San Francisco Band or a memorable show??
LE: Live Evil and Vain.
LB: Favorite venue to Play??
LE: Fat City. It's got a big stage, great sound system and is nicely located next to other clubs/bars.
