The Hooks - Sep 12 @ EL RIO’S

Keith Hook - Guitar, Vocals
Ronan Hook - Guitar, Vocals
Colin Delaney - Drums

LittleBook: Why did you start a band??
The Hooks: Kurt Cobain

LB: How did you find each other??
TH: Although the details are a little vague now. I was introduced to Ronan by my mother when she brought him home fron the maternity ward. Colin's cousin Eddie gave us Colin's phone number when we lived in Ireland, so we called him up on arrival and things went from there. Colin introduced us to our wonderful new bass player Chet.
What's your most memorable moment as a band??

LB: Where do you practice? What do you drink at practice? What do you do at practice when you’re not practicing?
TH: We practice where the tourists have a look of astonishment on their faces.

LB: What's the hardest thing about being a band in 2009?
TH: There is no clear way forward. I think the bands around have to pioneer new territory.

LB: What's the best / worst thing about being a band in San Francisco??
TH: Best: People. Worst: Bills

LB: What do you want people to know about your band, what are you doing next??
TH: I'd like them to find out for themselves at The Uptown on Friday September 11th.

LB: What’s up with your CD where can I get it, where did you record it??
TH: Our old EP is on Itunes, CD Baby, Amoeba, the other usual outlets.

LB: Favorite local Band or a memorable show??
TH: The Filthy Thieven' Bastards with Spider Stacey of The Pogues at The Hemlock. Our most memorable moment as a band!It was playing a headlining show in the civic center infront of the city hall very liberating and a great st.patricks 2008...

LB: Favorite venue to Play??
TH: Depends, Slims, El Rio, Bottom of The Hill, GAMH, Thee Parkside, The Crepe Place, etc., etc.

LB: Have you played EL Rio before? What do you like about it?
TH: Many times. Frank Gallagher (the sound engineer) and his dodgy Irish accent. Fook dem sez I.

LB: Do any of the members ever take their shirts off at a show or at practice??
TH: No.

LB: Who's the smelliest member after a sweaty gig??
TH: Very hard to quantify, ounces or millilitres?

LB: Favorite pre / post show; food, indulgence or ritual??
TH: Nothing before, everything after.

LB: Where do you think live music is heading??
TH: More people will start to come out of hibernation as the economy gets better.

LB: How do you feel about people downloading your songs for free , do you offer free downloads??
TH: A lot less strongly than Lars Ulrich, but I think the basis of his point is correct that musicians need to get paid for their work.
